New Year Wishes

I am having a good old clear out. I have decided that if I do not know where to put something then I can throw it away!! Drastic maybe but having spent all day yesterday hunting out all of my receipts and invoices for the accountant I REALLY need to get my act together!

Thank you very much to all of our customers this year. We have sold far more online than we imagined we would and love you all because you appreciated our jewellery etc. Our accessories have been successful too so they will stay. Along with a new line in Seed Bead Jewellery and a new.....shh Jean.
New Year resolution? Oh Yes I have one! I am determined to push forward with our shops, we will be listing the kits (as picture) so that you can become as addicted to beading as we are.
Happy New Year to you all. Whichever way you decide to spend New Years Eve, have fun and look forward to bigger and better things for us all.

Happiness is.....

One: Jean at Little Scruffs, this teddy bear is an early Jean Grogan! I bought her for a friend at the Misi Event. Can not bear to let her go....she even has a pair of earring now! I am calling her Bette (Lynch!)
Two: The little sectioned dish next to her is from Noseks Just Gems. It is for my swarovski crystals. I love boxes with sections.
Sad, but true!

New bracelet

Hello all. How is the Christmas rush going for you. I am very calm here drinking a gin and tonic watching Spooks. Scares me to bits, although I do not always understand it all. Roz is not centre stage today and she is my favourite character.
This is my newest item. It is not listed yet as still warm from the crimping pliers!! It will be tomorrow. Red holly berry colour teamed with chunky black polished lava beads on wire with a huge Karen Silver toggle. I love it. Tempted to keep it for me!! That is the gin talking!!
Night night girls!

More decorations

These decorations, plus an angel, were inspired by the story about Indie-Meadow. A baby who died a little over a year ago. She is much loved and missed by her mother and big sister Paris Angel.
If you buy these I shall donate all of the sale price to the hospice where she and her family spent her last little time together.
They are in my misi shop.
Here is the link I could not get to grips with earlier. Tells you more than I can.

Sunday, 6 December 2009

As there is no picture to go with this post I am putting one in of me!! Shy little thing that I am. I was at the Misi Event. You can see our jewellery and decorations on the picture too. Anyway, I digress:
I found this on Misi Forum. They are swopping Christmas recipes. I fancy this one! I think it came from Natty Needles, but perhaps I picked up her name when I was doing the past and copy bit!

'How about homemade Bailey's Cream:
1 tin of condensed milk1 pint single or double cream depending how thick you like it - double is better!
About 1/4 pint of whisky or if you want it Irish use whiskeyAbout 4-6 heaped teaspoons of instant coffee granules, espresso is best.
Add the coffee granules to the whisky and stir til dissolved.
Mix into cream and condensed milk. Mix well together and place in a sealed container in the fridge until chilled.
Drink and enjoy.
This is made very much to taste so it is essential that you taste as you go and increase the amounts of coffee and/ or whisky until it suits your preference.
natty needles
I shall let you know if any more yummy stuff gets listed! Happy Sunday x

Custom order

This little collection is for Amy. She ordered a set of three decorations in red, white and silver. I also made her a little dancing angel as well as the discount she was entitled to for buying three did not work on Folksy.
I hope she likes them, the picture is a bit dark, but you get the idea.
We are doing well with the dex and have our last fair on Saturday.
No time to make any more tomorrow as working at office all day...
:-( I miss those little lovelies when I can not make at least one a day! Just as well Amy wanted three!

Snowflake

This is quite a poor picture of a new piece of jewellery. We were at the Misi Event recently and a lovely girl came along and was admiring our Christmas Decorations and asked us to design this little pendant for her. It is only just over 1" long and is on a 18" sterling silver chain. She loves it.
Just thought I would pop over and tell you I have a sale over on Misi and Folksy at 10% off plus free u.k. postage.
If there is anything you would like just ping me a message and I will put up a reserved listing which will include the discounts.
Happy shopping.

Whooppee

So excited, I have just had my first online sale of my angels. Someone on Folksy did me a big favour and would not accept payment so I sent her one of the little angels (on the left) She liked her so much she has ordered a set in her own colour choice.
Best of all I have the beads to hand so can make them tomorrow and post them off quick sharp
Who says Friday 13th is a bad day??

I have embarrased myself!

I have just done something I have NEVER done before. I have done a mail run to everyone in my email address book!
I am still blushing. But, people do it to me and I don't mind so here it is. (she says as way of explanation!)
We make Christmas decorations and they are dipped into floor polish. (another post coming up I fear!) Anyway, the most recent I just popped onto a bottle to dry. I then received an order of gift tags from Misi and this idea was born! So, I have sent this link to everyone in the address book.... I am now going to change my email address!

Teenage Secrets

This is my favourite holiday buy. We were on holiday in St Ives a long time ago when children were teenagers and an old chap (probably the age we are now!) was selling these, he had dozens. So I bought this, much to my husbands despair. It was only a few shillings and is a match box with the striking paper on the base. A few Christmas's ago I was looking for matches for the candles and remembered this. Only to find that half of the matches were missing. My son calmly told me that he and his sister would use them for their 'secret cigarettes' when I was at work.....and to think at the time you imagine you know your children ...NOT
But, the point of this post is to tell you about my latest make. On sale on Folksy and Misi £14 pluss p&p

Pudsey

Just look when Hennie has made!
As Craig would say Fab-u-lous. (Strictly Darlings...)

These are for sale in aid of Children In Need at only £5 plus p&p so OBVIOUSLY one is needed for Alice and another is needed for her cousin Vonnie!!
If you NEED one too here is the link http://www.nimbleneedles.co.uk/5.html

Christmas!!

Here they are, the Christmas decorations I have been making for the last month. Between us we have 75!! oooh! that is 25 sets. They have proved very popular over the last couple of years so let's hope there are still people out there who don't have any...
We often get asked where we bought the tree..that really really annoys us. (John Lewis 3 years ago!)
If you want one single it is £4 and there are lots to choose from on Folksy and MISI. Wish us luck.

The Red Sponge has gone!

Do you remember this necklace. Made by Janice and one of the most expensive and stunning things on www.talkingbeads.co.uk (shameless plug!!)
Well, we were invited to take our jewellery to a Macmillan Coffee Morning today and guess what. I know, obvious or I would not be on here....it has sold!
Well done Janice and thank you to Gina for the sale. A percentage of the sale has gone to the charity along with 50% of sale price on the items we took that are listed on The Craft Cupboard I was telling you about before.
A good day all round I say. I could not go because I was tied to a switchboard all day, but I had fun too, Fun Friday really. Off to a workshop tomorrow to learn a new stitch...wish me luck!

New Tonight!

Hello Campers! Here is my new necklace, hot off the press. Well, kitchen table really. I do like this but must not keep it. I am making for the shop we supply in town and Selina wants party styles so I have made this and a couple of charm bracelets. The bracelets have large 12mm pearls on instead of charms. I am pleased with them too! She needs another 10 items....
I am now going to take my bragging head to bed.
p.s if you want to buy it go to my Misi link and you will find it!!

What a Surprise!

My last job of the day is to pop onto the forums at Misi and Folksy to see what has happened and to check my emails in case my daughter in upside down land had sent me a message. So, I absently clicked the send/recieve button and nothing seemed to happen, so clicked it again...........and look what happened!!

I stared at the screen thinking, for a second, it was a glitch, then suddenly blushed with excitement!!!

TWELVE of my items had sold just that minute to one lovely lovely lady. Whooppee!!
They sold on http://www.misi.co.uk/store_info.php?user_id=2936 This is my destash shop. I have been teaching workshops for nearly 5 years now and always make at least two samples for the ladies to look at. I sold 5 items the first weekend I opened up and then nothing until last night. Still excited this morning. I did not get to sleep for ages last night planning how I would wrap and post them all. My jiffy bags will not hold all twelve!!

Hope you do not think I am showing off...but good news does not come along every day. Now, where is that tissue paper and ribbon??????

Pudding has Arrived

This garden ornament is a replica of an large ornament my Aunt had when I was a child. She sat in the 'front room' and I loved her. She was probably from a fairground and was painted garish colours. I then found this one at a nursery about 15 years ago and had to have her. She was named SHY GIRL. There was a Shy Boy with her but it did not have the same appeal. I am not a great one for garden ornaments but she hides behind the foliage, we don't see much of her in the summer but she peeps out in the winter!!
Anyway, I digress. The real subject of the picture is Pudding. He is having a chat in the garden to my little girl. He was posted by Anna from The Warren on Tuesday but did not arrive until Sat because of problems at the post office. So I thought he would like some fresh air!!! Yes I am as mad as Anna....He is made from a pair of Christmas Socks and is for Alice shhhhh!
For those of you not in the know, he is a Baby Sock Bunny!

Alice

This is my little angel, and I don't want anyone to say that she is getting her clothes wet!! She is only 21 months old and is just having a fabulous time in the Australian sunshine.

Chocolate anyone!

It is only Tuesday and I am fed up with this losing weight lark!! I am following a low carb regime....and I am thinking of putting £1 coin in a jar for every day I keep under 60 carbs a day!
So I am now obsessed with biscuits and scones. I made some on Sunday from my new Trex cookbook. Free with proof of purchase, get one they are great. The scones were the best I have made, and I make good scones, and the cookies, (I added dried cranberries as I had eaten all of the cooking choc drops), were amazing. So, by Monday my jeans did not need a belt to keep them up.
Hence finding this bracelet. I was thinking about choc and remembered this chocolate bracelet. It is for sale and is on my MISI shop under The Craft Cupboard and I only want £3 for it as this is the destash shop!

I have been doing my accounts recently and I need to stop spending unless I am selling...the nasty man from Westbury has asked to see my accounts so he can do my books. He is very sweet and when he tells me off it is more in sorrow than anger! Actually this is very good for me as I am now realising how much I spend on beads and pearls on the internet. Too much!

So, this bracelet is made from tiny seed beads in 4 stack herringbone stitch with a seed bead woven toggle. You are only paying for the materials, not the labour.

Now off to the day job, that pays for the bread, oh, can't have bread...

Test Kit

We are nearly there girls, just one more tester to book in and we will know if the kit is do-able. This is the sample by the way! I will show you the finished test necklaces when the images come in.
Sorry I have been missing for a while, my computer died. I know, very sad. My brother has set up a lap top for me but there were no pictures etc on and I do not like doing a blog without images! Looks boring. Anyway, off to bed, been to a party and just come home. Night Night, more soon x

New Shop

A little while ago I decided to have a CLEAR OUT. Actually it was when I came back from a holiday and thought 'why have I kept all of this STUFF!
Then a couple of weeks ago I decided to open a new shop on MISI called The Craft Cupboard. I want to put all of my 'left-overs' in there. There is nothing wrong with any of it but I need to make some room for things I actually use!!
The first offerings are pieces of jewellery I made as samples for workshops I helped to run when I was part of Three Jays Beading.
So here is the link. Have a look and let me know if you like it.

Wednesday, 5 August 2009

Hello, anyone there!!

Hello chaps, you have been a bit quiet lately, are you still there? Well, I will tell you anyway.
I HAVE SOLD SOMETHING ON ETSY!!!
I have a shop there and a little while ago I was fed up with listing and paying to list and going on every day to chat and tell people and listening to them telling me how great sales were because I sold NOTHING. So, I decided to leave my toys in the middle of the room and go and sulk in a corner.
Tonight when I returned from work my husband said "you have had a lot of mail this afternoon"
Guess What: Someone has found me on Etsy and bought THIS RING!! So, now I have crept back to my shop and listed some more stuff. ;)
Good Night.

Misi Swap Makes

At Last I hear you say. Rustic Hearts (scented) and a small quilt (each square is about 5" ) for my grandaughter and her dolls. Just one question, you know me, Pisces-don't-know-her-own-mind!
Should I carry on with the blanket stitch?
I have lots of stuff left. The kits I shall give to my nephews on a rainy day and the pink paisley is going to be more hearts or a rabbit if I can find a pattern! Thank you Channa for the stuff and Snowflake for the idea. I enjoyed the hand stitching, I did it all by hand as my machine does not like fleece! I had to get out my embroidery book to remember how to hold the material for the stitch, my brain wanted to do button holes! Now, where can I find a rabbit to copy....

Red Sponge

No not red sponge 'cake' but red sponge coral. This is made by the other half of talking beads, Janice. She is not into blogs, web sites and forums!
So, I came on here to show you. It is gorgeous and I am liking it a lot. If you want to buy it the link to the shops is on the top right hand side of the blog.
I know someone it would look FAB-U-LOUS on, if she sees this, you know who you are (Maria!)

Clip On's

Would it be a good idea to offer the earrings with this fitting?
Just on a forum and someone is saying she cannot wear pierced earrings...Just wondered if I should get some in and try them.
Happy Monday...raining here. Just as well I shall be at work this p.m.

Sunday Sunday

Here is another of our offerings. I have listed it onto Dreamaid and MISI. I would not like to hazard a guess as to the number of beads on here. HUNDREDS. This would normally take around 2 evenings to make!!
Tired now....Night Night!

Wednesday, 22 July 2009

New tonight!

Here is my latest creation.

I am very pleased with it and then when see them together I wonder if I should have made the earrings with a clear body!

Oh the trials of a jewellery designer!!!!

Opinions Please girls x

Treat yourself to something nice!

Have a look at Knitwits on

My fabulous scarf arrived in the post today. I won a blog giveaway from Knitwits. It is in shades of pink and will go with EVERYTHING even my pink spotty p.j's! The 'wool' looks like lots of chopped up ribbon. In this weather I need a scarf. It is cold down here and wet. So thank you to Elaine and Knitwits. Have a look at her page as it is full knitted goodies. Including skittles!

Also, when you have finished with the knitting go and have a look at Blue Stripes from Folksy. I bought a fabulous handbag. I have had my eye on it for a while and so treated myself. I keep doing that..... Should concentrate on selling not buying. My poor little paypal account is very thin and weedy. Claire is on http://www.folksy.com/shops/ClaireLouise

Thursday, 16 July 2009

p.s. I have just listed the Black Night necklace set on Dreamaid. Bottom picture.
Have you heard of them? They are a charity site. When you sell an item you can donate a percentage of the sale price to them.
Lovely people and at the moment they are growing so they have time for all of us and answer any silly questions really quickly and do not make you feel like an idiot. Well they were nice to me...
Right, no more computer tonight. I am off to do my knitting before the grandaughter grows out of the jacket before she even sees it.

Packaging is important.

I almost cried when this came through the post. This is Tomas. He is so wonderful. I have wanted one of Little Scruffs Bears ever since I saw them on MISI and now I have thrown caution to the wind and have bought one for my grandaughter. I shall keep it until she is older as she is only 20 months old! So, I can have a few years of loving him and then Tomas goes to live in Australia. This is not a good picture of him. Jean at Little Scruffs is so much better than me at photographs.

These pictures are of the packaging from Calico and Threads. I am getting a thing about packaging. Since I have been buying from MISI and Folksy I have realised that it is not the same as receiving an order from M&S. When the packaging is as thoughtful as this it is a gift to yourself.

This is the newest creation! I sold the little flower earrings on MISI yesterday. To be honest I had forgotten about them and was looking for a picture for my blog and thought I would pop them on. Within minutes they had sold. Wish every day was like that!
So today I took out my black beads and this is the result.
I thought it would be nice to make a necklace and then a bracelet grew too!
I love days when a plan comes together.

I won

Just a quick note! I won the Knitwits blog giveaway. I loved the scarf she was giving away and entered in the same spirit as I do a raffle. Nice to give support but no hope but this time I won!!!
Will send you picture when it comes.
Also, 2 of my three winners is delighted to try out the pattern. Sew Scrumptious and Knitwits too. Not a fix I promise! The winners had to be girls who had not done beading before.
Thank you all of you for entering and when the girls have finished I will let you know how we how it goes. Unless I am under the table hiding because the pattern is rubbish!!

Blog Giveaway

Well Folks, we have Three Winners.

Why Three?? I am going to launch a pattern for a bracelet made using bead weaving. But, I needed to have the pattern tested.
Janice and I can do it so we would know what the pattern meant even if it did not say it in the right words/pictures.

That is where my testers come in.

I am going to e-mail them all and ask if any of them have the time and patience to have a go at testing our pattern for a Beaded Bracelet. If I no one wants to have a go I may have to go and do the draw again!!

Blog Giveaway

Well girls, I have 12 people who have entered my blog giveaway. I shall be choosing the short list tonight. . . . .
As I always give you a photo here is a random picture of me with my son on my birthday in March. Oh Yes! I am a mad Piscean.
Do you recognise the location?
I have come up with an idea for a use for some of the material from a Stash Swap I am involved with over at MISI and want to do that today. My stash came from Moppy and is LOADS of fabric. So, have a good day and I will chat to you later.

Giveaway!

No I had not forgotten about the giveaway to my followers!

I have 10 so far and would like more contestants to choose from. I have a particular idea in mind and need volunteers!!
I shall be setting the closing date in the next couple of days.

FaceBook

Yes, it is true, We have a page on Facebook now as well. I shall have to give up sleeping soon to keep up with Talking Beads, MISI, Folksy and now Facebook.

Be better if I gave up eating, could do with losing a few pounds (laugh hysterically) before I go to Dubai in September!

Anyway, What do you think about us listing our seed bead jewellery? This picture is a little dark but I always like to see images on Blogs so this is for you. Good Night People x x x

Sunday

Today we went on a trip down memory lane with My Husbands parents and we arrived by chance in Sutton Benger and here is the house that was my first home. Isn't it fabulous. At the time it was the local Police Station and my Dad was the local bobby on his bike. We moved from there in around 1955 I think. It is now a family home but is called The Old Police House, which in fact is just what it is!!

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/jean.talkingbeads?ref=name

Well, here we are, I have succumbed to the dreaded facebook! I left them in Dec 2007 but my MISI friends say I should try it. Well, my details and family friends and pictures are still there...no idea how to get rid of them. Not my friends just the messages from 2 years ago.

So, you can come and have a look and tell me you like me! That is the only button I understand really. I pressed it myself you see, and now it says that Jean liked herself..How embarrasing!
I am going to bed now before I can do any more harm. Good night.

Excited of Devizes!

Ooooh! I am off to Shaftesbury. Not to walk up the Hovis Hill, as we call it or anything cultural.

I am going to Stitch'n'craft for some beads. I have a new pattern that I want to make from seed beads.

Have not picked up my needle and thread for a long while but have a commission as well for some daisy necklaces so, off we jolly well go.

I will, of course, take a list....for the things I need. Then come back with a lot of things I do not!!!!

The last time I did seed beading was to teach this little baby. We all decided it was gorgeous BUT would probably make a bracelet next time. It is a lovely pattern and so simple but you have to count all of the time. So, for a necklace it is a lot of counting.

If anyone wants to buy the necklace or kit just ping me a message. Necklace £12. Kit £16 (Kit is from my previous identity, Three Jays Beading.

Sunshine Bookmarks

Do you like these! I was asked by the lovely Claire at Blue Stripes, on Folksy, to design a yellow bookmark for her daughter and I as always can not make just one. So, made two, I hope she likes one of them.

They are made from 'gold' coloured metal and 'silver' coloured metal and the head pins are gold filled and sterling silver.
I am very happy with them and tomorrow I have ideas for more. I am off now to look for a link for Claire.
p.s. Yippee, Claire did like my bookmark, the one on the right, and she bought it. shhh, don't tell her daughter. Goodnight folks.

Migraine

Hello, well...today I am fed up!

Not my usual state of mind but today I have a migraine. Only mild I am sure otherwise I would not be able to write this moaning minnie blog. But, to me it is not very nice. So, tiger balm and parecetamol and a choc chip cookie is my remedy.
That is it. Just to let you know.
By the way, I was playing with the settings on my blog and I realise that I have deleted some entries that I did not mean to. I am still trying to link to my other sites. Hopeless.
Tonight I shall be revealing the prize for my giveaway.

Now I am going to get ready for lunch out...it is 11.36 a.m. and I am still in p.j.'s

See me at: http://www.talkingbeads.co.uk/

Have I got this wrong!

Here are my Emma Ralph Lampwork Beads!
I am on her list for her newsletter and when she lists some new beads I am one of the people who get told first. Very good so far, but her beads are sooooooooooo fabulous that you have to be VERY quick!
I was quick 3 times.
Now when you buy her beads you are supposed to send her a photograph showing her what you have used them for. Do you think she intended them to be just looked at?
So, here are the two passions of our house. Penstemons (my husband) and lampwork beads, mine. Guess who spends most money?
